Counting the numbers
Practise counting the numbers from one to ten.
tahi one
rua two
toru three
whā four
rima five
ono six
whitu seven
waru eight
iwa nine
tekau ten
kore zero
Match the Numbers with the correct word, and the Māori word with the number.
When you are next with a group of people, stand in a circle. Count in Māori around the circle to tekau. When you get to ten, that person sits down and counting starts again. Continue counting to ten with that person sitting. The winner is the last person standing.
