Watch He Kōrero clip 2 What is a macron? 

 

Listen  to the sounds and letters of the Māori alphabet. (Play CD clip Alphabet sounds in Māori – including long and short vowel sounds)

 

Say  the sounds in the pauses as you follow the letters. Practise saying the sounds by yourself or to your supervisor.

 

Listen  to the waiata Te Arapū Māori. Sing along using the words.

 

Play  CD Track 1 Te Arapū Māori.
